Blend all ingredients in a blender with enough water (about 3-4 cups) to make a smooth, pourable consistency. Serve immediately. Refrigerate any remainders for up to 2 days. Makes about two (2) 4-liter mason jars.

This is a "not-so-wild green edible" recipe using common Hosta plants.
As the leaves get larger, they toughen up, so you will want to cook them before using them in soups, stews and in green smoothies. They also tend to get more bitter as they age/as the season progresses, so this recipe uses blueberries to help mask the taste and pairs it with slippery sweet mangoes and pears.
A good idea: use the cooking water from cooking the Hostas in the recipe!
To add extra slipperiness, feel free to add a handful of cooked Mallow or Hollyhock leaves (cooking makes them more mucilaginous).
To add further gel-like action and eat this smoothie as a smoothie bowl, add in 2 TBsp whole or crushed chia or flax seeds. Let the smoothie thicken in the fridge for 30 minutes to several hours. Add smoothie "pudding" to a bowl and eat as is OR top with additional fruit, such as fresh blueberries, shredded coconut or a handful of pumpkin or sunflower seeds.
As always, Enjoy! :)
