*Crock Pot Required. Food Mill Recommended*
Place all in a crock pot and let cook on low 4-6 hours. Puree all, including cooking water, in a blender, adding in extra water as needed. Serve warm or cold.
Variation: You can use all the leaves from 1 bunch kale instead of the stems OR use both leaf and stem from 1/2-1 bunch kale. I'd recommend using 1 small kale or 1/2 a large, but if you are really keen on greens, the whole large kale could work just fine :)
A 2:1 ratio of carrot to apple (2 parts carrot to 1 part apple) was used in this recipe, so feel free to double or triple or even halve the recipe if you like. I used 2 kinds of apples, Ambromisa and Red Delicious, but any type of apple will do.
If you have a food mill, there's no need to core and peel the apples. Pulse the mixture in a food processor, then pass through a food mill. Use the blade with the smallest holes or the one with medium-sized holes.
If you don't have a crock pot: put all in a pot, let the water come to a boil and simmer on low, covered, 20-30 minutes; then puree using the food processor and pass through the food mill, if using.
As with other similar Cooked Green Smoothies, this can be used for baby food or for a healthy dessert or snack idea. You don't taste the greens at all! Add in stevia to sweeten, if desired, and top with any of your favorite garnishes if you like.
