Add all to a pot. Let come to a boil, then simmer on low, covered, for 15-20 minutes. Puree all (including the cooking water) in a food processor, then use a food mill with the smallest hole blade to remove seeds and peels. Very nice served warm, but cold is fine too. Refrigerate leftovers for 2-3 days.
Yummers! Such a simple recipe, but absolutely delish. No fat, just fruit and greens! Likes a warmed up Green Smoothie, but without the insoluble fiber from the peels.
An easy-on-digestion recipe, for sure!
Makes a simple dessert or snack.
Suitable for baby food, too.
Having a food mill is just great because it removes the peels and seeds from fruits and veggies. If you don't have a food mill, the next best thing would be to strain the puree using a fine sieve (push down on puree with the back of a spoon).
There are many food mills out there. I've been using the Oxo one and the rave reviews do it justice.
Variations: You could thicken the recipe by adding in a bit of GF flour, add in some cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice to give it some warming heat, or add in some stevia to make it extra sweet. You could also sprinkle on some toppings like goji berries, shredded coconut, pumpkin seeds, etc.
One last tidbit: feel free to add in the chard stems to the pot if you like.
