Add the chopped fruit and water to a 1-liter mason jar. Put on the lid and screw cap and let sit 4-8 hours or overnight. You can refrigerate if you like. Strain out the fruit, then add in the aloe vera gel and stevia to your sweet liking taste. Prepare to be hydrated!
Have you ever heard of detox water or fruity sun teas? Fresh sliced fruit is simply placed in water and allowed to steep for several hours. Once strained, the tea is great to help with weight loss, food cravings and help with dehydration.
This recipe adds in cooling aloe vera gel for those hot, humid days, plus uses stevia to add a touch of natural sweetness.
Variation: If you have Sumac berries, soak the berries in cold or room temperature water (NOT hot) for 15-30 minutes. Strain out the liquid using a sieve lined with a coffee filter. <-You want to use a coffee filter to strain out any fine hairs. Now add in the aloe vera gel, sweeten with stevia and drink on up! You can add in ice or refrigerate before serving if you like.
Variation: Try soaking other Vitamin C rich berries, such as dried Goji, Schisandra or Hawthorn. Use 1 ounce berries to 4 cups hot or boiling water. Let sit 4-8 hours then strain. Add in the aloe vera gel and stevia. Refrigerate or add in ice for a cool refreshing drink on a hot summer's day :) You can also try this using Hibiscus flowers.
As always, Enjoy :)
